His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has retained his appointment as the Chancellor of University of Ibadan, as President Muhammadu Buhari approves the appointment and re-assignment of chancellors to over 40 federal universities in the country.

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, according to the new presidential approval, joins the leading train for the first time as the Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State, while the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, becomes the Chancellor of University of Calabar, Cross River State and Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, is Chancellor of University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

He noted that those appointed were expected to play a role in cementing relationships between communities in the country.

He said: “As royal fathers, these Chancellors are expected to be the moral compass of the various universities to which they are assigned.

“Let me reiterate that the chancellors shall be presented to the university community at an investiture ceremony to be organized by the university for the purpose; or during the next convocation ceremony when the investiture will precede the conferment of degrees at convocation.
