ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council has felicitated the newly appointed Managing Director of the Sokoto State Media Corporation (SSMC), Labaran Lumo Dundaye.
The council, in a statement, jointly signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Dalhatu Abdullahi Safiyal Magori and Muhammad Nasir Bello described Dundaye’s appointment as not only well-deserved and timely but long-awaited.
“The Union is optimistic that, Sardauna Dundaye, is the right choice to head the SSMC, considering his long years of experience through Rima Radio as a Curb reporter, rose to producer and popular Hausa News Presenter, at NTA Sokoto Network Centre as News Producer, Hausa News Presenter up to the position of Assistant Manager News and Current Affairs Department, his experience at the Rima TV as GM and the Ministry of Information Sokoto as Director.
“We believe that this wealth of experience will definitely come to bear in making the new MD capable of remodeling the operations of the State Media Corporation to tally with the approved Professional Standards.”
The statement equally urged the government to re-equip the Corporation’s Media outlets to conform with the contemporary global electronic media needs.
It also commended the Sokoto State, Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for his support to the Media Industry in the state.
The council further lauded the appointments of fifteen of the Staff of the Corporation and the Ministry for Information.
This is in addition to the appointment of the former GM of Rima Radio, Sambo Bello Danchadi, as Commissioner Ministry for Information as well as the Media Aids to the Governor and the Deputy Governor’s Office.
