Ahead of this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration, a member of the House of Representatives, Mani Maishinko (PDP/Sokoto), has distributed food items, cash, and clothes worth ₦120 million to his constituents.
Mainshinko, representing the Binji/Silame federal constituency, flagged off the distribution exercise at his residence in Sokoto, the Sokoto state capital.
The lawmaker who said that about 3,500 households would benefit from the initiative noted that the gesture was aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by his people, especially in the sacred month of Ramadan.
He added that the items would be distributed across all the polling units in Silame and Binji local government areas.
He thanked his supporters, party leaders, and fellow legislators for their usual efforts, reiterating his commitment to supporting his constituents.
He added that more dividends of democracy would be provided to his people sooner or later.
Speaking during the event, the state PDP chairman, Bello Goronyo, described the gesture as a commendable effort and prayed to Allah to reward the lawmaker abundantly.
In his vote of thanks, the chairman of PDP Silame Local Government, Abbakar Namadi, appreciated Mani for his efforts, saying that they had been enjoying the dividends of democracy through his representation.
The items donated included bags of rice, millet, guinea corn, clothing materials, as well as ₦43 million in cash.
