The commissioner described a statement credited to some civil servants claiming that about 10,000 government employees are yet to receive their February salary, as false, malicious and misleading.
“The allegations that over 10,000 staff are yet to receive their February salaries are false. Out of the total 35,320 civil servants in the state, only 1,054 were yet to receive their February salaries.
“The reason for the slight delay in the payment of March salary was the challenges experienced by some banks where the salary of a portion of the state staff were being paid,” he explained adding that while the Guarantee Trust Bank is saddled with paying 4,620 workers only 736 had issues, and 323 in other banks.
Dr. Inname assured that the challenges have been resolved and the payments will be effected before or within twenty four hours.
He also assured that March salaries will also be paid latest tomorrow.
