The Chairman Senate Committee on Defense, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has donated 500KVA transformer to the community of Gagi “C” ward, Mabera area in Sokoto South local government area of Sokoto state.
A statement by the Special Assistant (New Media) to the Senator, Bashar Abubakar on Monday, said the donation followed a total break down of the one being used by the community.
Presenting the transformer to the community, the Director of Administration to the office of the Senator, Almustapha Abubakar Alkali said the donation of 500kva transformer followed an assessment visit to the location, which considered the number of people resident in the area.
He urged them to ensure maximum protection of the transformer to avoid vandalization.
Alkali challenged the state government to install the 100 number of transformers that it said it bought for the people of the state.
This is the fifth time Senator Wamakko is donating transformers to the communities in need.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Magajin Mabera, Umar Bello said Mabera area had been in the dark for almost three months.
According to him, they had followed up their request with the state government but to no avail.
