Security forces and Civilian Joint Task Force groups in the Nigerian North East of Borno are searching for persons who went missing after an attack by Boko Haram insurgents who killed several Zabarmari farmers working in rice fields on Sunday.
It was gathered that the heavily armed terrorists stormed rice fields and attacked the farmers who were harvesting their farm input in the villages of Koshebe, Karkut and Bulabulin in Mafa local government area, less than 20 kilometers from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region that the terrorists who were on motorcycles divided themselves into three groups before attacking the farmers.
The sources said that the attackers had used cutlasses and knives to stab the victims in multiple parts of their bodies.
Nine bodies were recovered as of (Sunday) night while the search for others who fled the attacks was still ongoing.
