The Centre for Peace, Transparency and Accessibility on Saturday, honoured Zamfara governor, Bello Muhammad with an Excellent Leadership Award from the Centre for Peace and Accessibility.
A statement by the Yusuf Idris, the Director-General Media, Yusuf Idris on Saturday said the award is in recognition of his efforts in addressing security issues and bringing peace and development to Zamfara.
The statement said the governor also received a Certificate of Performance from the Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG), at the event that took place at the City King Hotel Conference Hall, Gusau.
The Executive Director of the Centre for Peace, Comrade Patrick Ogheneyero said, “the exemplary leadership qualities being demonstrated by the governor had been a rallying point for the organisation over time.”
According to him, the award is a reflection of commitment to the tenets of good governance best practice that are worthy of emulation for democracy to thrive.
Similarly, the National President of the Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic said that the 186 civil society groups in Nigeria, under his leadership concluded and adjudged the governor’s performance as a good representation.
He said that having visited some projects, including the RUGA Modern Herders settlement, they were convinced that the project is the best roadmap leading to lasting peace in Nigeria.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Col Bala Mande rtd, the governor expressed pride over the awards and recognition, adding that he never thought his modest efforts were being noted.
Governor Muhammad further expressed happiness in people’s realisation in the kinetic and non-kinetic approach to the security situation that were yielding positive results.
The event was attended by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Bashir Maru, Commissioners and Senior government officials.
