In a message marking this year’s Children’s Day celebration, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has reaffirmed his commitment to the growth and well-being of children, describing them as “the treasure and the window to the future.”
Highlighting the importance of childhood as a time of wonder, curiosity, and limitless potential, Rhodes-Vivour emphasized the need for society to nurture young minds through love, education, and inspiration. “Childhood is a phase that deserves to be celebrated,” he said. “It lays the foundation for the future we all hope to build.”
Quoting author Walt Streightiff—“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million”—he reminded Nigerians that children represent the hope of a better tomorrow. “They are not just the future—they are the promise of what we can achieve when we invest in them today,” he said.
He urged stakeholders to commit to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for children to thrive. “Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression,” he noted, stressing the need for positive and meaningful engagement at all levels.
In a moving conclusion, Rhodes-Vivour extended a personal message to every child, saying, “I love you, I cherish your growth, and I celebrate you not just today but every day, as you are the treasure and the window to the future.”
Happy Children’s Day!
