The Nigeria Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has warned the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) in Niger state over sales of petroleum products above regulatory price.
He handed the warning in a meeting with officials of the state chapters of IPMAN and MOMAN), the NMDPRA Coordinator, Ahmed Emimaru on Thursday.
According to him, the exploitation of consumers of petroleum products will no longer be accepted.
Emimaru stated that intensive and frequent monitoring and surveillance would be done to ensure that the order is followed and the petroleum products are sold within the approved rate.
He expressed optimism of having good working relationship with the associations just as he informed them of the new development in the oil and gas sector of the country.
The state chairman of IPMAN, Adamu Ahmed Erena said that they were ready to obey the directive, adding that his members had never sold petroleum products above the regulatory price.
He accused the private depots of trying to make much profit by selling above the official price, adding that more focus should be placed on them.
Erena then appealed to the coordinator and its workers not to embark on any witch-hunt, adding that a harmonious working relationship will improve the sector, especially at the state level.
