ASHENEWS reports that youth groups in Niger state have commended the state government for its effective management of the recent nationwide “End Bad Governance” protests. The youths praised the administration’s proactive measures, which ensured the safety of lives and properties in the state.
The youths, in a statement signed by the Chairman of Young Progressive Nigerlites Association, Haruna Ismaila Musa noted that protests cause unrest in various parts of the country and often see business owners and innocent citizens suffering as criminal elements take advantage of the chaos to loot and steal.
Musa stated that the Niger state government’s swift and decisive actions prevented such occurrence, allowing businesses to reopen quickly and life to return to normal.
“Before the protests, the Niger State Government had implemented several measures to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerlites. Notable initiatives included the sale of food items from the state’s food reserve at subsidized prices, providing significant relief during a challenging period and highlighting the government’s dedication to its citizens’ well-being, particularly the most vulnerable.
“Furthermore, the government’s engagement in statewide public consultations through a widely attended town hall meeting demonstrated its willingness to listen to its people’s concerns. This open-door policy fostered inclusivity and transparency, enabling citizens to actively participate in the decision-making process.
“Additionally, the government’s recent announcement of a wage award for civil servants, payment of long-awaited leave grants, and payment of gratuities to retirees has been met with widespread appreciation. These gestures underscore the administration’s commitment to recognizing the hard work and dedication of its public servants and ensuring their financial security”, the statement read.
The Youths appreciated the Governor and his team for their exemplary leadership urging the Governor to ensure proper monitoring and evaluation of ongoing road constructions and other projects across the state.
