The Presidency on Thursday denied claims that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun presented N105,000 as new minimum wage proposal for Nigerian workers.
The Punch had quoted Western Post as saying that the new proposal suggested a minimum wage of N105,000 (approximately $220) per month for Nigerian workers.
President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, directed Edun to present minimum wage templete on Wednesday.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had revealed after a Federal Government delegation on the new minimum wage met with the President.
“The President has directed the Minister of Finance to do the numbers and get back to him between today and tomorrow so we can have some figures ready for negotiations with Labour.
“Mr President is determined to go with what the committee has set. He is also looking at the welfare of Nigerians,” he had said.
Edun had earlier in the day submitted a minimum proposal to President Bola Tinubu which has not been made open to the public yet.

The report that the Federal Government is proposing N105,000 as a new minimum wage has gone viral.
However, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in an X post said the story being reported is false.
“The Honourable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false,” he said.
Earlier, Edun submitted the minimum wage proposal template to the president, beating the 48-hour deadline he was given by the president to submit the proposal.
