ASHENEWS reports that three persons, including the manager of an orphanage home, have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping two children in the Suleja local government area of Niger State in October 2022.
The State Police Spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Minna said that two of the suspects, Saviour Ebuka 20 years, and Mary Peter 25 years were arrested by operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit of the Command at Tunga-Maje via Gwagwalada area of FCT Abuja on 20/01/2023 and 18/02/2023 respectively.
“During interrogation, Saviour confessed to having conspired with one Ifeoma and Patience, both presently at large to perpetrate the act, because Ifeoma agreed to pay him and Patience two hundred and fifty thousand naira each, but she had only paid Patience while he is yet to be paid, “the statement said.
The third suspect, according to the police was arrested in the Lugbe area of Abuja in the company of the missing children, Abdullahi Umar, and Rahamat Umar aged five and three years old.
According to the police, the suspect identified as Chinwe Egwu aged 49 also aided the police in rescuing three other children kidnapped by the syndicate from Tafa and Suleja local government areas of Niger State during the investigation.
The police said that it was currently on the lookout for the two remaining suspects while those already in custody would be prosecuted accordingly.
“Effort is ongoing to arrest the said Ifeoma and Patience, as the case is under investigation, and suspects arrested so far will be prosecuted accordingly as soon as the investigation is concluded,” the police said.
