ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the Northwest has lauded the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration for its commitment to the welfare of journalists.
The union, in a statement issued by its secretary in the region, Abdulrazak Bello Kaura said that the journalists in the region had received 700 bags of 5KG rice from the presidency through the office of the National Security Adviser through the Special Assistant to the President on Print Media.
“Each of the state councils within NUJ Zone A, comprising Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, received 100 bags of rice, ensuring equitable distribution among members.
“The NUJ Zonal office coordinated the transportation and distribution of the rice to ensure timely delivery to journalists across the region,” the statement said.
The statement also quoted the Vice President of NUJ Zone A, Tukur Umar as saying “We extend our heartfelt thanks to President Tinubu for this generous gesture.”
The Zonal office of the NUJ emphasized the significance of this welfare, noting that it is the first time journalists in the region have received such support directly from the presidency.
The union therefore urged President Tinubu to continue including journalists in welfare packages, enabling them to enjoy the dividends of democracy under the current administration.
