The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 18 full-time academic programmes for the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK), located in the southern part of Kaduna State.
The announcement was made by the university’s pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor William Qurix, in a statement signed by the Registrar, Professor Sanusi Gambo, in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Qurix, the approved programmes will commence in the 2025/2026 academic session and focus on key disciplines in basic medical sciences, allied health sciences, and computing.
He stated that the approval followed the successful outcome of the NUC’s resource verification and re-validation exercises, signifying FUASK’s preparedness to deliver quality education in applied sciences and technology.
“This achievement is a collective triumph and a strong signal that FUASK is poised to become a centre of excellence in applied sciences and technology,” Qurix said.

- Doctor of Pharmacy
- B.Sc. Software Engineering
- B.Sc. Information Technology
- B.Sc. Computer Science
- B.Sc. Cyber Security
- B.Sc. Environmental Resource Management
- B.Sc. Microbiology
- B.Sc. Biotechnology
- B.Sc. Anatomy
- B.Sc. Physiology
- B.MLS. Medical Laboratory Science
- B. Rad. Radiography
- B.HIM. Health Information Management
- B.NSc. Nursing Sciences
- B.Sc. Architecture
- B.Sc. Quantity Surveying
- B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry
Expressing gratitude to the NUC, Qurix said, “This approval is a bold endorsement of our commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the advancement of applied sciences in Nigeria.”
He added that the inclusion of critical programmes such as medicine, pharmacy, and software engineering marks a major step forward in the university’s mission to offer industry-relevant, solution-driven education that supports national development.
