The Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, says the country needs a code of conduct to enhance good behaviour of Nigerians anywhere in the world.
Issa-Onilu said this on Monday when the immediate past Director-General of the agency, Dr Garba Abari, handed over to him the mantle of leadership of the agency in Abuja.
The director-general said that the code of conduct would assist in making Nigerians to imbibe the attitude of good leadership wherever they found themselves.
According to him, Nigerians must not be found wanting or fall short of that wherever they find themselves. They must posses leadership character at all times.
“A good leader behaves normal, you have to nurture patriotism which should be the symbol of the country. President Bola Tinubu is passionate about Nigerians to believe in the country, believe in themselves.
“We acknowledged the fact that the country must put some criteria in place for Nigerians to believe in the country and love it which is part of my job at this agency.
“The President is aware that Nigeria cannot achieve stability, unity and progress without loving ourselves,” he said.
He thanked the management of the agency for the support given to the outgoing director-general for bringing some innovations to the agency.
Issa-Onilu said that Abari and himself had come a long way, adding that they had worked together in All Progressives Congress (APC) for so many years.
“The outgoing director-general has finished the work for me, what I have seen in the agency is all about continuity of work.
Earlier, Abari, who said that he enjoyed his working in the agency for over seven years, urged the management and staff of the agency to give the new director-general the needed support.
He expressed confidence that the new director-general would continue to accomplish the agency’s mandate.
