ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Bago has announced plans to sponsor 1,000 students in the state on foreign scholarships to India.
The governor stated his administration’s intention on foreign scholarships during a dinner organised in his honour by the Niger South Stakeholders Forum on Friday.
According to the Niger state governor, his administration will encourage students to explore opportunities in the tech sector to help develop the state.
This online platform reports that the governor had earlier inspected the ongoing 44 km Bida Ring Road project.
The governor who expressed satisfaction with the project said he is impressed with the quality and speed of work, as well as the deployment of technology by the construction company.
“I am impressed with the quality of work, speed, and the deployment of technology. They have deployed lots of assets and set up asphalt and crushing plants.
“Most importantly also, they have employed lots of local people which is unprecedented and commendable,” the governor said.
The governor who encouraged them to keep up with the pace of work assured them that contractors would be paid within seven days of presenting their certificate.
The governor further urged the workers at the site who are mostly youths of the community to be committed in their work to earn legitimate income.
