Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger state has expressed frustration over the state of the roads and other infrastructures in the state, threatening to shut down all roads if the Federal government failed to intervene in good time.
Speaking with newsmen in Minna during an interaction on Nigeria at 60, the governor lamented that despite all cries to the Federal government, it had failed to pay attention to the state.
“We have been crying out but no one appears to be listening to us. I closed the road to get things fixed but re-opened it because of the people I respected who contacted me and I am waiting for their response.
“If the federal government did not honour its part of the bargain, I will shut down the roads and let everyone suffer.
“Imagine that it is very difficult to move around in the state. Infrastructure is dead. Trucks that are expected to carry 30tons of load and tankers carrying petroleum products now carried between 45,000 and 70,000 tons thereby having a serious effect on our roads.
“If nothing is done about our roads, I will shut the road down again and let everybody suffer”, the governor emphasized.
