ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago on Tuesday laid the foundation for the construction of 100 level two Primary Healthcare Centres across the State.
The project, which is aimed at strengthening healthcare access, especially in rural areas targets the provision of such services to 10,000 residents in the benefitting communities.
Speaking during the groundbreaking at the Sen. Idris Kuta Primary Healthcare Centre in Minna, the Niger State governor, explained that the construction of the level two Primary Healthcare Centres would help to reduce the hardship of the common man while seeking healthcare services.
The Niger state governor said that the state government has set a target of completing all 100 centres in two years.
Furthermore, he revealed that 20 out of the 100 would be completed in the next 10 weeks to demonstrate his commitment to the well-being of the citizenry.
The governor further revealed that the project will consist of staff quarters and ambulances to better serve residents.
The Governor equally announced the approval of N200 Million as a counterpart fund to provide Health Insurance for 30,000 Nigerlites.
The Governor also directed the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy to provide renewable energy to all the Primary Healthcare Centres in the state.
Speaking earlier, the Niger State Commissioner for Primary Health Care Development, Dr. Ibrahim Dangana explained that the PHCs to be constructed will have enough spacing, including staff quarters to allow for availability of health workers at all times.
This online platform reports that the Niger State governor during the event announced a N150,000 scholarship fee for Medical Students, N100,000 for students Studying Law, Engineering and Sciences while those studying Social Science and other courses will get N50,000.
