ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government on Thursday launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Fund with a contribution of N50 million.
The Niger state governor, Mohammed Bago unveiled the emblem at the Council Chamber of the Government House, in Minna.
The governor in his remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices of fallen heroes in preserving the nation’s peace and stability.
The governor, who reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Armed Forces also pledged the state government’s continued support to the Nigerian Legion in the state.
The Governor emphasized that the N50 million donation is aimed at addressing challenges faced by the Legion and enhancing their capacity to support veterans and their families.
On his part, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Chapter, Veteran Mahmud Ahmed, stressed that the support for the legion by the state government will support ongoing efforts to improve the lives of fallen heroes in the state.
According to him, the N20 million provided during the 2024 Emblem Appeal Fund aided the legion to establish a permanent office, named in honor of Governor Bago.
Furthermore, he noted that the funds had been utilized to provide welfare for veterans, widows, and families of fallen heroes across the state’s 25 local government areas.
The legions chairman also called on individuals and corporate organizations to contribute generously to the Legion, ensuring veterans feel valued and supported.
