Bandits in the early hours of Thursday, stormed Allawa community in Shiroro local government area of Niger state and killed five soldiers and one policeman.

A source in Allawa town who spoke with ASHENEWS on Thursday, also said the bandits in large numbers on about 200 motorcycles, stormed the community at around 2am and burnt down military vehicles.

According to the source, the bandits killed five soldiers and one policemen, adding that “I cannot ascertain the casualty figures of civilians.”

Confirming the incident, the District Head of Allawa, Ibrahim Salihu told ASHENEWS on telephone that the bandits stormed solders base and killed five, including a Policeman.

“It is true. The bandits stormed Allawa and killed five soldiers and one policeman. They did not burn any military vehicle as reported.

“Our people are being killed on daily basis. With this development, we are now going to face a bigger problem. Now there is no security presence in Allawa.

“We appeal to the Federal and state governments to continue to do their best in protecting our lives. Allawa is a difficult terrain. When the bandits strike and enter these terrains, it is difficult to apprehend them,” the District Head told ASHENEWS.

When ASHENEWS calontacted the spokesperson of Niger state command of the Police, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, he could not pick the calls.
