The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially inaugurated the Principal Officers of the National Medical Team (NMT) and its Steering Committee for the 2025 Hajj operations.
The ceremony took place at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
In his address, NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Professor Abdullahi Usman, described the assignment as a “sacred trust,” urging the team to approach their duties with sincerity, patience, and dedication to the welfare of the guests of Allah (SWT).
Supporting the Chairman’s remarks, the Hon. Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), Professor Abubakar Yagawal, stressed the divine nature of the team’s appointment and the critical responsibility of safeguarding the well-being of Nigerian pilgrims.
Other NAHCON officials, including the Commissioner for Operations, Inspectorate and Licensing (OIL), Prince Anofiu Olarewaju Elegushi, and the Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, Management and Finance (PPMF), Alhaji Aliu Abdul-Razak, charged the officers to carry out their duties with diligence, responsibility, and a strong sense of spiritual accountability.
Speaking on behalf of the medical team, Dr. Saidu Ahmad Dumbulwa likened the Hajj assignment to “a journey from sunrise to sunset,” emphasizing that the team’s actions would define their true impact on the pilgrims’ experience.
The Steering Committee was assigned key responsibilities, including:
– Selection, screening, and orientation of NMT applicants;
– Developing and executing the 2025 Hajj medical strategy;
– Integrating Electronic Medical Records (EMR) into NAHCON operations;
– Facilitating passport data capture and visa processing;
– Ensuring full compliance with medical screening protocols.
NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the health and welfare of Nigerian pilgrims through a well-coordinated, spiritually driven medical operation.
