The Nigerian Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) has conducted strategic airstrikes on ISWAP camps in southern Lake Chad, inflicting significant casualties among the militants.
According to intelligence sources, the targeted strikes on November 6 were aimed at camps led by the notorious ISWAP commander, Usman Russia, focusing specifically on locations at Kwallaram and Arainna Ciki islands near Jibilarram in Marte Local Government Area.
Ground assessment reports confirm that the strikes successfully neutralized over 70 ISWAP fighters at the Kwallaram camp.
While the exact number of casualties at Arainna Ciki remains uncertain, sources indicate that several additional terrorists were also killed in the coordinated assault.
This operation is regarded as one of the most effective airstrikes undertaken by the Air Component of OPHK.
In response, reports on November 7 suggest that ISWAP has mobilized additional fighters from its Sambisa wing, regrouping in the areas of Kusuma and Sigir in Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area, within territory controlled by Usman Russia. Mobilized forces reportedly include elements from the Sambisa Forest and northern border areas of Cameroon, though their intent remains unknown.
