The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has called on Muslims in the country to pray for the country for peace, unity and progress of the country.
The traditional leader made the call while felicitating with Muslims in the country on the occasion of the 2020 Eid-el-Maulud celebration in his Wadata Palace in Bida, Niger state.
“It is not just enough to be a Muslim. But you must also have the fear of Allah and behave most acceptably to your fellow human beings.
“Let us revive the teachings of the Prophet by preaching peace wherever we find ourselves.
“Maulud is not only for merrymaking but also a time to emulate what Prophet Muhammad was sent by the Almighty God to come and do,” he said.
The Etsu Nupe stated that Prophet Muhammad preached peace, love and unity, adding that as true followers of Islam, Muslims need to emulate the same virtues.
He called on them to be prayerful, saying that, prayer is key to overcoming any situation in which they found themselves.
Alhaji Abubakar appealed to Muslims to seize the opportunity to offer special prayers for the unity, progress and prosperity of Nigeria and for the country to overcome its recurring myriad of challenges as we march into the New Year.
