A man, Hassan Olanrewaju, 19 and a housewife, Salewa Akinola, 25, were on Friday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly snatching people’s cell phones.
The police charged Olanrewaju and Akinola, whose residential addresses were not provided with conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 13, at about 4 p.m., at Oke-Bola area, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendants while on a tricycle snatched a Vivo Android phone worth N85,000, from Sikiru Opakunle.
Ibrahim said the defendants also stole a Tecno Spark 7 cell phone worth N70,000, belonging to Afe Adeola.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs S. A Adesina, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N80, 000 each and one surety each in like sum, which must be a blood relation.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 4, for hearing.
