A mammoth crowd of Muslim faithful on Monday, thronged the central Eid Praying Ground, in Wamakko town, Wamakko local government area of Sokoto state, where they observed the two raka’ats Eid-el-fitr prayer, to mark the end of the Ramadan fast, 1443 AH.
The prayer, which started at around 9.00am, was led by the Chief Imam of Wamakko, Shehu Ardo Wamakko.
It was attended by thousands of beautifully dressed, elated celebrants who were jubilant to have witnessed the epoch-making day.
Notable among them were Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi; Amb Sahabi Isa Gada, the Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto; serving and former members of national and state assemblies.
Others were the Special Assistant to the Senate President, Bala Hassan; Director General, National Teachers Institute, Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir; the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Isa Sadiq Achida and other state and local governments executives of the party.
The rest were, Chiroman Wamakko and National President of the Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria (REDAN, Aliyu Oroji Wamakko; Bello Abubakar Wamakko, Commissioner, Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC), and Former Executive Secretary Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Ahmad Baba Altine, among others.
