ASHENEWS reports that the Lakpma Youth Forum (LYF) has announced an initiative to empower 40 youths with vital skills in borehole repairs, machine tools handling, and business development.
This announcement was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at Government Day Secondary School, Central Gwada.
The meeting which was presided over by the Forum’s President, Zaharadeen Kudodo, outlined detailed strategies for the program’s implementation.
According to the forum, through its president said that the training which is scheduled to run from January 13 to 25, 2025, will draw participants from the eight political wards of the Lakpma axis.
The president noted that the initiative comes in response to ongoing security challenges in the Lakpma area, which have left many boreholes abandoned and contributed to severe water scarcity.
To address these issues, he said that the Forum submitted a proposal to Senator Mohammed Sani Musa (313), who approved ₦15 million to fund the project.
The allocation will cover training materials, toolboxes, and other necessary resources to ensure the program’s success.
The Forum’s President emphasized that the initiative aims to solve water scarcity by training participants to repair and maintain boreholes in their communities.
He added that in addition to technical skills, participants will receive business development training, enabling them to turn their expertise into sustainable income sources and boost their economic well-being.
Kudodo also appealed to political party leaders, youth organizations, and other stakeholders across the eight wards to support the initiative wholeheartedly.
He assured all stakeholders of transparent and effective utilization of the funds.
Nomination forms for prospective participants were distributed at the meeting, which concluded with goodwill messages from various stakeholders.
The LYF further extended its heartfelt gratitude to Senator Musa for his support, describing the initiative as a step toward community development and self-reliance.
