The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia will pay N8.5 million as airfare.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, AbdulSalam Abdulkadir, disclosed this in Ilorin on Monday while addressing journalists. He said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) allocated 3,762 slots to the state for the 2026 exercise.
Abdulkadir explained that the announcement of the fare and slot allocation signaled the commencement of preparations for the pilgrimage. He listed key requirements for intending pilgrims, including possession of valid international passports and completion of all necessary processes before the deadline.
He further disclosed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had approved an initial deposit of N5 million for residents wishing to participate, adding that pilgrims are required to pay the balance before October 8, the payment deadline.
The executive secretary commended the governor for his support, noting that the state government is committed to ensuring a smooth, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj for its pilgrims both at home and in Saudi Arabia.
