Kebbi State Government is set to launch a special Ramadan feeding program, with plans to distribute free food items to the people of the state.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Shehu Mu’azu, said during the weekly ministerial press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, said the programme is to reflect on the spirit of compassion and benevolence embraced by Governor Nasiru Idris.
Mr. Mu’azu emphasized the significance of this gesture within the framework of the incumbent administration’s welfare policy.

Furthermore, he revealed the government’s commitment to supporting farmers engaged in irrigation farming. The finalized process includes the supply of free petrol to alleviate production costs, aimed at assisting farmers and boosting productivity.
He said that with thirty thousand farmers participating in dry season irrigation farming for rice production, seven thousand five hundred in maize production, and two thousand farmers partaking in cassava cultivation, the government’s efforts are directed towards sustaining agricultural development in the state.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection, and community. A commemoration of Muhammad’s first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.
