ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi state government has mourned the death of prominent Islamic scholar, Abubakar Giro Argungu.
The Kebbi state deputy governor, Umar Abubakar stated this in a statement issued by his Press secretary, Murtala Gotomo.
The deputy governor, who described his death as shocking, said that the loss was an irreparable one for the Muslim community.
“The Deputy Governor who was shocked by the unpleasant news, extended his deepest condolence to the Emir of Argungu, Samaila Muhammad Mera, the deceased’s family, and Islamic ummah over the irreparable loss.
“He described the death of a Famous Islamic Cleric as a great loss not only to his immediate family but also to the people of Kebbi State, Nigeria, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
“Senator Abubakar prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and give his family, people of Kebbi State, and Islamic Ummah the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement said.
Late Abubakar Giro was a renowned Islamic preacher in Africa under the umbrella of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS).
Aged 71, the Late Sheikh Giro is survived by four wives, many children, and grandchildren.
