ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi state government has distributed relief materials to 3,000 victims of the recent bandit attacks in Fakai local government area of the state.
This online platform recalls that about 50 communities were attacked by terrorists in the area.
The Deputy Governor, Umar Abubakar who presented the relief materials on behalf of the state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris at the Internally Displaced Camp (IDP) in Mahuta, also assured the IDPs that the state government was working to tackle the insecurity bedeviling the state.
Abubakar called on informants, who help the bandits in carrying out their criminality, to fear Allah, and cautioned that anybody caught involved in such bad activities would be punished appropriately.
“We will not tolerate such activities to continue to happen. We will take all necessary action to make sure you get back to your homes immediately” Umar told the victims.
He warned against spreading rumour and false information, which he said, could further instill fear in the minds of people.
On the issue of dam reconstruction as requested by the Chief of Fakai, Muhammad Hudu Dan Malam, the Deputy Governor directed Fakai local government chairman to formally forward the matter to his office for further action.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief of Fakai, thanked the Governor and his Deputy for the concern and the donation of the relief materials.
Danmalam explained that about 50 villages were affected by banditry, with over 3, 000 persons displaced from their respective homes.
He appealed to the state government to hasten its measures to enable the IPD’s return to their homes, so that their children will continue their studies.
He further requested for the reconstruction of a dam to enhance farming activities in the area.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafidan Yauri; the Head of Service, Safiyanu Garba Bena; the Chief of Staff Government House, Barr. Attahiru Maccido and some Special Advisers to the Governor, among others.
