A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kebbi state, Umar Na’amore Argungu has dissociated himself from contesting as member of the House of Representatives, representing Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency.
Campaign posters of Dan’amore have been circulated across the state purportedly by some youth and supporters urging him to declare for the National Assembly seat.
But the PDP stalwart in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, said he has never discussed with anyone that he had intention to contest for any position, let alone that of the House of Representatives.
According to him, the decision to contest for political position was not one for few group of persons but collective.
“I am not in any race. I have not discussed that with anyone. In a neat political setting, there has always been consultations by party leaders, stakeholders and supporters that one intends to contest for a position. In my case I never approached anyone.
“Although it is normal for well-wishers and supporters to show love as well as express goodwill to anyone, such action should not be misplaced by doing it without consultation and without confirming from me that I actually have interest to contest.
“I have political leaders, who I respect and whose system of doing politics I come to learn and appreciate. If I have any interest at all, I will always consult with them first before taking any action.
“I urge all well-wishers to kindly observe some decorum in their call for me to contest for any political office,” Na’amore said.
