Kano state government says it is committed to uplifting the living standard of Persons with Disabilities.
The permanent secretary in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Musa Bichi reiterated this on Wednesday at two-day stakeholders engagement meeting with committee for the implementation of Kano State Persons with Disability Law, organised by Child Development Grant Program (CGDP) held in Jigawa state.
Representing the SSG, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, the said that governor Abdullahi Gandje signed the lease law on December 4 2018 and that there was an implementation framework that was drafted in collaboration with the SSGs office.
According to him, the meeting is aimed at reviewing the implementation framework, develop a road map and action plan for implementation of the law.
In her opening remarks, the Program Manager for CGDP, Stella Esedunme explained that the program is aimed at strengthening an all inclusive social protection systems.
She added that it is to ensure that PWDs were given opportunities to achieve their full potentials in life.
The representative of PERL said inclusion is an important aspect of governance across board, even though initially, it suffered neglect but in the last few years there has been a lot of awarness.
