President BolaTinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). This announcement comes as the incumbent AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, proceeds on pre-retirement leave in line with public service regulations.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, reflects the President’s commitment to ensuring the continuity of financial management and accountability within the nation’s treasury.
Mr. Ogunjimi, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise in public finance, will oversee the operations of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) during this transitional period.
Dr. Madein, Nigeria’s first female AGF, has served the country with distinction and dedication. Her tenure has been marked by significant reforms aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in the nation’s financial management system.
As she transitions to retirement, the Federal Government has commended her for her service and contributions to national development.
Mr. Ogunjimi is expected to continue the implementation of financial reforms initiated under Dr. Madein’s leadership while upholding the principles of accountability and transparency in managing the nation’s finances.
The Presidency has urged him to bring innovative approaches to further enhance public sector financial management and address emerging challenges.
This change in leadership comes at a critical time as the government intensifies efforts to stabilize the economy and optimize the management of national resources.
