ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced the revocation of all land allocated to individuals and organizations within government-designated areas in all the 25 local government areas of the state.
The Governor equally announced a series of cancellations of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of some organizations in Niger State.
This was contained in a press release issued on Friday by the Niger State Ministry of Lands and Housing.
The statement dated 9th June 2023 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry said that the decisions followed an executive order by the Governor.
“Pursuant to the Executive Order by his excellency, Rt. Mohammed Umar Bago, the Ministry of Lands and Housing wishes to notify the general public that all land allocations within Government designated areas across the state including the River Basin at Sabon Wuse, The 3 Arms Zone l, City Centre Minna, the New Bypass at Kontagora and Forestry Lands at Kontagora are hereby revoked.
“Additionally, Certificates of Occupancies issued in favor of IBB University at Suleja, Maximum Shelter Suleja, Dumez Suleja, Abuja Steel Extension (Cityscape land) at Dikkoand a Filling Station along Keteran Gwari are equally revoked,” the statement said.
This online platform reports that the Niger State Governor has since his inauguration made a series of rulings as it relates to his administration’s urban renewal plan.
As his executive order one, the governor directed the demolition of Chanchaga Police Station in Minna, said to be unlawfully built on water pipelines.
The Governor equally directed the evacuation of the Madalla market situated on the Suleja-Abuja Highway to ease traffic.
The governor subsequently criminalized all commercial activities on the highway, threatening offenders with arrest and prosecution.
