The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, holds Sallah durbar after leading Eid prayer and sermon at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at mosque.
This is in spite that the State Police Command, on Friday, issued a statement banning Eid-el-Kabir Durbar by the aby of the two warring Emirs.
“In furtherance, a ban on all contending parties has been placed restraining both from conducting Durbar activities for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
“In this trying period, the Police will enforce the existing Court Order and prevail on the two contending parties regarding the Kano Emirship Tussle and urge them to remain apart and respect the court order,” the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Gumel had said in the statement.

The Eid prayer by Emir Sanusi was observed at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at mosque due to heavy rain that flooded the premises of the Eid ground which could not be used.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other cabinet members observed prayer with the Emir.
Though Kano Police command had announced a ban on Sallah durbar after a joint security meeting in the State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, faulting how the police arrived at such without consulting him as the Chief Security Officer of the State.
Meanwhile, the 15th Fulani Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero observed his Eid prayer at the Nasarawa mini palace as earlier announced.
