Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped two Judges of the Sharia Court in Zamfara state.
The Chief Imam of Umar bin Khaddabi Jummu’at Mosque, Sheikh Umar Kanoma, raised the alarm while delivering Friday sermon.
According to him, the two sharia court judges were travelling back to Gusau from Niger Republic where they are furthering their education.
“We appeal to the Muslim Umma and the general public for prayers and safe release of the two kidnapped sharia court judges. They were abducted on their way back from Maradi in Niger Republic, where they attended lectures in pursuance of their education.”
The Chief Imam gave the names of those kidnapped judges as Mallam Sabiu Abdullahi and Mallan Shafi’i Jangebe.
One of the kidnapped judge, Mallam Sabiu Abdullahi also doubles as Deputy Chief Imam of Usaimin Jummu’at Mosque in Gusau.
Sheikh Kanoma called on government at all tiers to live up to their responsibilities by protecting lives and properties as well as provision of welfare to the less-privileged.
Contacted by Ashenewsonline for confirmation, the Spokesperson of Police Command in Zamfara, DSP Shehu Mohammed said the Police Command had no such incident.
“We do not have any kidnap incident. We have not received any report from any body regarding any kidnap case,” he said.
