ASHENEWS reports that gunmen have abducted a Catholic priest and seminarian serving at St Luke’s Catholic Church in Gyedna, Tafa local government area of Niger State.
It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the area in the early hours of Thursday and kidnapped the duo, identified as Fr. Paul Sanogo and Seminarian Melchior.
Most Rev Dr. Martin Igwe Uzoukwu, the Catholic Bishop of Minna, has confirmed the incident.
The cleric, in a memo issued on Thursday, said that the bandits abducted the duo at the priest’s residence in Gyedna.
“On behalf of my Auxiliary Most Rev Sylvester Luka Gopep, the Priests and Religious of the Catholic Diocese of Minna. I request your prayers for Fr Paul Sanogo (M.Afr) and Seminarian Melchior who were kidnapped by bandits in the early hours of August 3, 2023, at the priest’s residence at Gyedna, Niger State,” the memo read.
