A socio-political group in Zamfara state, Sha’aya’u S-Pawa Foundation, says it is making arrangements to award of ‘Resilient Journalist’ to Mr Eyo Charles, the Daily Trust correspondent, that was assaulted  by a former Aviation minister, Fani Kayode in Calabar, Cross River.

He had assaulted the journalist who asked to know who was was bankrolling  his tour of projects in the state.

In a statement by the Chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Sha’aya Sarkin Fawa on Friday, commended the maturity with which Charles handled his attacker, which attracted the foundation, “we feel he deserves strong respect and recognition”.

It also stated that “Fani-Kayode had earlier visited Zamfara and left on its tray some controversies that are still fresh in the memory of the people.

“The good journalism posture displayed by Charles gives more hope and belief to Nigerians that we still have good media professionals in the country.

“As Nigerians, we strongly believe that if the former minister is truly the activist that he claims, he should come out in the public domain and answer the question asked by Charles,” the statement reads.

According to Sarkin Fawa, “we will organise a befitting ceremony to give this award very soon after we reach out to Charles.”
