Kano State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtal Garo has expressed sadness over the death of the Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir.
The late Emir died on Wednesday at aged 91, due to ill health.
In a statement personally signed by the commissioner, he described the death of the emir as a loss to the emirate, the state and Nigeria at large, considering the leadership acumen of the nonagenarian.
The statement added that during the reign of late emir, his selfless service consolidated the peaceful coexistence of the people in the emirate.
‘’The late Emir would be remembered for his support towards developmental stride of the government aimed at making live easy for the people,’’ said the statement.
“Despite his age during his lifetime, he was never found wanting in impacting on the lives of the people positively.
Garo commiserated with governor Abdullahi Ganduje, the State, the Gaya Emirate Council and the family of the deceased.
The commissioner prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him paradise.
