The IDIMUB Foundation has empowered 100 women of Azza community in Lapai local government area of Niger state with N1,500,000.
The founder, Mumbu Idris told newsmen that he is dedicating the empowerment program to his late mother, who played a major role in his upbringing.
The empowerment program, which is targeted mainly at poor and indigent women in the society, is part of its effort to ease the sufferings of the masses.
According to him, the programme is also aimed at making the women self reliant and productive by using the financial support to set up small scale businesses.
He added that it is his own way of helping his people out of poverty, especially the women, because they play major part in child upbringing and home affairs.
The foundation coordinator, Mohammed Mustapha also said that the empowerment is the first of its kind, which seeks to empower the less privileged women by giving them financial assistance that will boost their businesses.
The chairperson of the National Council for Women Societies in the FCT, Hadiza Umar said the society is in full support of the foundation’s move to empower and provide a means of livelihood for the women.
She called on other philanthropists and sons of Azza land to ensure that the poor and indigent members of their communities, especially women were empowered so that they can live better lives.
A visually impaired beneficiary, Fatima mohamed expressed her gratitude for the gesture and said she will be able to cater for her needs with the financial empowerment she has received.
Also speaking, one of the oldest women in the community, Nnadama Ibrahim appreciated the foundation’s gesture, adding that she will not be hungry for some time to come, because she will be able to buy food items for her household.
The Chief of Ebbo community, Ndatsu Ismailia while applauding the empowerment program said it will go a long way to improve the welfare of the people, adding that the women will be able to establish small-scale businesses that will in turn benefit them and their families.
He then called on well meaning sons and daughters of the land to show such gestures that will bring succour to the people.
Ndatsu then prayed that God will continually bless the initiator, Idris for his kindness to his people.
Highlight of the event was award of excellence to sons of the Azza community among whom was the initiator of the foundation, Mumbu Idris.
