ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State governor, Mohammed Bago on Saturday received the Public Service Award on Agriculture and Food Security for his efforts at promoting food security in the country.
The award ceremony organised by the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) in collaboration with the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, was held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
Speaking shortly after receiving the recognition, the governor noted that the award was based on the deliberate attempts of his administration to transform Agriculture in Niger State.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Bologi Ibrahim cited the governor as stressing his commitment to achieving his vision for the State.
“He described his Agricultural revolution as a comprehensive one with plans for storage facilities to curtail post harvest losses, adding that about a million tons of renewable energy storage facility would be provided across the State in addition to the 500 of 40ft containers that Dangote Group would provide for the farms estates in the State.
“In the area of infrastructural, especially roads, the farmer Governor said his administration has embarked on about 1,000 km of road projects across the State, describing it as unprecedented,” the statement said.
On his part, President Bola Tinubu enjoined Public Servants to live up to expectations and be guided by the fact that Public Institutions were not personal enterprises.
The president who was represented by his Vice, Kashim Shetima, reiterated his determination and commitment to creating an environment where merit is rewarded and every Public Servant is valued and motivated to give his or her best.
