The Federal Government has released a list of 48 individuals and entities allegedly linked to terrorism financing in Nigeria.
The list was published on Saturday by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee (NIGSAC) as part of ongoing efforts to curb terrorism-related activities.
The disclosure highlights intensified measures by authorities to identify and track persons and organisations suspected of supporting terrorist operations.
The publication includes individuals and groups reportedly connected to various extremist organisations operating within and outside Nigeria.
The Nigeria Sanctions Committee noted that the list comprises persons and entities suspected of involvement in terrorism financing activities.
The list includes individuals allegedly linked to groups such as Ansaru and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Both individuals and organised groups were identified as part of the sanctions listing.
The publication is aimed at strengthening enforcement actions against terrorism financing networks.
Authorities are expected to monitor financial transactions and restrict activities linked to the listed persons and entities.
The release demonstrates the government’s commitment to disrupting financial channels used to support terrorism.

Recently, the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Hamat Modu to 40 years’ imprisonment for providing logistics support to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
Justice Binta Nyako convicted the defendant following his arraignment by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
In 2022, the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), announced the identification of 96 suspected financiers of terrorism across the country, particularly those linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The agency also identified 424 associates and supporters connected to these financiers.
The agency further revealed that authorities uncovered 123 companies and 33 bureau de change operators linked to terrorism financing, alongside 26 suspected bandits/kidnappers and seven co-conspirators.
Nigeria has intensified its fight against terrorism financing in recent years as part of broader national security efforts.
The country continues to face threats from insurgent and extremist groups operating in different regions.
Financial support networks have been identified as a critical enabler of terrorist activities.
Regulatory bodies have increasingly adopted sanctions lists and monitoring frameworks to track suspicious financial flows.
These measures align with global standards aimed at combating money laundering and terrorism financing.
This development comes amid renewed terrorist attacks in northern Nigeria and growing public criticism over their recurrence.
In May 2021, the Federal Government announced that it had commenced profiling well-placed Nigerians suspected of financing terrorism for prosecution.
The government had earlier stated that it would arraign about 400 suspects arrested for allegedly funding Boko Haram insurgents and bandits.
