The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, October 1, 2025, will be a public holiday. This is to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th year of independence.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on Monday.
In a statement shared by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Nigerians on reaching this important milestone.
He encouraged Nigerians to keep showing patriotism, unity, and strength—qualities that have helped keep the country together since gaining independence in 1960.
He also asked citizens to support President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which focuses on rebuilding the country, growing the economy, and improving life for everyone.
Tunji-Ojo said that with everyone working together, Nigeria will continue to grow in peace, progress, and development.
The Minister, speaking for the government, congratulated all Nigerians both in the country and abroad on this special occasion.
He encouraged citizens to stay committed to national values like unity, love for the country, and resilience, which have kept Nigeria strong since 1960.
He urged Nigerians to believe in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to rebuild the nation, grow the economy, and ensure everyone benefits.
He expressed confidence that if all Nigerians work together, the country will continue to grow in peace and development.
He wished everyone a joyful and memorable Independence Day in 2025.
