The Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, has matriculated 934 degree students under the Dual Mandate Programme, independently and without any affiliation to universities within Nigeria.
Dr. Mohammed Degereji, the Provost of the College, announced this during the matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session held on Friday in Yola.
Represented by his deputy, Aishatu Khadiri, the Provost assured that the college has the academic capacity and institutional proficiency to produce employable graduates both in Nigeria and globally.
“Today marks a significant milestone in the institution’s 52-year history,” he said.
He expressed pride in the college’s achievement of enrolling its own degree students under the Dual Mandate Programme, independently and without university affiliation.
“We have admitted 934 students into the Directorate of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) across various schools. These students make up the first cohort under the Dual Mandate Programme of the Colleges of Education,” he stated.
Degereji urged the students to remain dedicated to their studies and to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the college.
He cautioned against examination malpractice, cultism, and inappropriate dressing.
“Such behaviors will not be tolerated. Any student found violating the rules will face appropriate disciplinary action,” he warned.
He also reminded students that participation in the ceremony signifies a binding commitment to abide by the college’s rules and regulations.
“In return, the college will provide rigorous academic training, mentorship, and moral guidance to help shape you into responsible citizens and role models,” he added.
Mrs. Amina Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of the students, expressed gratitude to the college management for granting them admission and assured she and her colleagues would uphold good conduct.
She emphasized that this opportunity would enable them to contribute positively to societal change.
