Dangote Cement Plc has expanded its scholarship scheme to cover students from Oworol in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, in addition to its host communities.
At the award ceremony in Obajana, Plant Director Azad Nawabuddin said the initiative, implemented in partnership with the Oworo Development Association (ODA), reflects the company’s commitment to education and community development. He added that the company is also providing five boreholes to Oworo communities as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The General Manager of Social Performance, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi, disclosed that 50 students—26 females and 24 males—were selected as beneficiaries for the 2025/26 session. He explained that recipients will continue to enjoy the scholarship until graduation, provided they maintain good academic standing.
Community leaders, including the President of ODA, Jibril Odoga Ibrahim, and traditional rulers, praised the gesture, describing it as a life-changing opportunity for the youth. The Kogi State Ministry of Education also commended the company, noting that such public–private initiatives support the state’s education agenda.
Local leaders and stakeholders urged beneficiaries to study hard and make their communities proud.
