Civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) have commended the Chairman of Hadejia Local Government Council in Jigawa for donating a patrol vehicle to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the area.
The CSOs and CBOs, under the coalition of Partnership for Local Governance Inclusion and Budget (PILGOB), gave the commendation in a statement issued by the General Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Ilallah, on Sunday in Dutse.
“We should recall that there was a misunderstanding between the FRSC personnel and some errant Okada riders in the town during which their patrol vehicle was vandalized, which crippled their operations in the area.
“The provision of this vehicle has come at the right time and will not only benefit the corps but also safeguard the lives of motorists and other road users in area,” he said.
Ilallah called on residents, particularly drivers, commercial motorcyclists and other road users, to be law abiding by adhering to traffic rules and regulations.
He also called on the general public to desist from taking laws into their hands whenever they had any misunderstanding with FRSC personnel and other security agencies.
“It is unwise to fight those who are saving our lives. We should always report them to the relevant authorities,” he said.
