The Kano chapter of Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, called on the state government to stop ‘unnecessary’ deductions from the salaries and pension of workers as well as pensioners.
The group, in a statement by the state of the coordinator, Ali Sadiq on Monday, said, “we have noticed with dismay, the recent act by the Kano state government, of deducting salaries and allowances of state workers and pensioners, respectively.
“At this time of high and exorbitant prices of essential commodities as well as necessary services like medical, transport and so on, deducting salaries does not augur well to the teeming populace of civil servants, ex servants and the economy in general,” the statement reads.
The group resolved as follows:
1- Kano state government shall henceforth halt and or abstain from deducting anyone’s salary or pension allowance.
2- All money deducted shall immediately be paid back to those who are legitimately entitled to it.
3- Instead of deducting salaries, Kano state government must pay attention to the recruitment of new teaching staff as suggested recently by Kano State House of Assembly to deal with menace that our educational system faces and always bedevil it.
Lastly, we hope that the Kano state government will immediately act upon our suggestions and or requests.
