Akwa Ibom state governor has donated 40 bags of rice to each gazetted village across 31 local government areas to assist them in the Christmas celebrations next week.

The governor also ordered all political appointees to return to their wards and deliver government goodwill and largesse to the people at grassroot.

Speaking during the Carol Night at the ongoing Christmas village last night, Eno appreciated all the invited Artistes , choral groups and described the event as a celestial party .

“Tomorrow, by 3 pm, we will share our yearly Christmas largesse. All the gazetted villages in our state, will each receive 40 bags of rice.

“I urge all political leaders, appointees and critical stakeholders to return to their wards and join hands with government in bringing Christmas cheers to the people.

“Our Lord Jesus Christ whom we are celebrating with this Caro, had a hometown which Ceaser Augustus decreed. In the same vein, we also have our villages- let us all go home and decree a happy season for the people.”

Eno said the theme of the Carol Night was ”Divine Visitation” drawing his text from Luke 1: 68 adding that the Lord will visit the state and renew the people with love, kindness and capacity to shun hatred.

“He will renew us with more spirit of love. Our peace will deepen, and we will continue to see ourselves as one people, united under the protective armour of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, where ancient animosities will give way to unlimited flow of kindred spirit in our veins.

“This redemption will strengthen our resolve to reach out to the less- privileged, the downtrodden, those on the lower rungs of the ladder, and give them a helping hand and a reason to be cheerful during this festive period”.

Eno therefore listed the state as the next tourism destination in Nigeria with many tourism sites built in his administration through the Arise Agenda .

According to the governor, these tourism sites include: ARISE PALM RESORT, 5000 Capacity Convention Centre, 200-Bed Ibom Hotels, Uyo, ARISE Shopping City, Rehabilitation of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort as well as Ibom Hotels and Apartments, Abuja and Lagos respectively.

Others include Ibom Model Farms Conference Hotel, Aviation Development including the designation of the Victor Attah Airport, Uyo to International Status among others .

He appreciated past leaders in the state for the great work and achievements recorded across all sectors.

Eno pledged continued support to President Bola Tinubu and his renewed hope agenda which is currently tracking and tackling socio political and economic needs of the people

“Together, we will continue to Arise and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his Renewed Hope Agenda, which today, is on track to tackling our socio-political, economic and security challenges.

” We also stand ready to continue in our support for our son, the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, and the work he is doing as Chairman of the 10th National Assembly.

“So, sit back, relax and let your spirit soar. Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year to us all!”
