In its frantic efforts to ensure that organised labour does not proceed with its planned strike on Monday and in spite of its insistence that it will, the Federal government has summoned, yet another meeting by 7pm on Sunday.
A statement by the spokesperson of the Labour and Employment Ministry, Charles Akpan said the Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige will meet with the Organized Labour at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Sunday, insisted that it would proceed with its planned strike on Monday.
Recall also that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on Sunday, held a closed-door with the NLC, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, with a view to finding amicable solution to the problem.
NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba told news men after the meeting with Gbajabiamila that the strike would not be shelved, arguing that the Federal government had refused to obey a judgement of a Federal High court, which stopped the increase of electricity tariff.
According to him, until government reversed its the tariff and price hikes by 12 midnight, the proposed strike will hold.
