ASHENEWS reports that the Court of Appeal in Makurdi has nullified the governorship primary elections of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Benue state.
This online platform further reports that the appellate court also ordered the party to conduct a fresh primary election in 11 local government areas of the state to nominate its governorship candidate.
The affected local government areas are Gboko, Gwer-East, Gwer-West, Guma, Katsina-Ala, Logo, Makurdi, Otukpo, Ukum, Tarka, and Vandeikya.
According to the court, while the election should be conducted within 14 days, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should recognize the winner after adding the results from the 11 local government areas.
Recall that one of the aspirants of the APC, Professor Terhemba Shija, had approached the Appeal Court on the premise that there was no valid primary election held on May 27, 2022, which resulted in Fr. Alia emerging as the winner.
